The second week of the transfer window offered interesting developments in big clubs as well as in the Czech Republic

In June, teams are just catching their breath after a demanding season, but in England, there's never any rest. The officials at Manchester United and Liverpool know this well, as do the clubs from the Czech football scene. The second part of summer transfers is just beginning.

Summer Transfers – Part Two: Cunha, Kerkez and the Czech League

In the previous part, I took a closer look at the first wave of summer transfers, analyzing the moves of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold. But the transfer window is more volatile than Bitcoin. Last week saw more exciting transfers either finalized or well on their way.

Red Devils on the Hunt!

Manchester United, home to our BU1 goalkeeper Radek Vítek, has secured their first summer signing. Prolific Brazilian Matheus Cunha joins the Red Devils for €74 million. The versatile forward scored 15 league goals and provided 6 assists last season for Wolves. This is a major boost for United, who are soon expected to welcome Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. While Mbeumo will cost slightly less, his 20 goals and 7 assists last season prove United mean business. Together with Bruno Fernandes, these two could form a deadly attacking trio. Finally, it seems Manchester is building a proper sporting project—not just a marketing one.

Unstoppable Liverpool

The dominoes keep falling at Liverpool, where they’ve opted to strengthen their full-back positions. After Jeremie Frimpong, left-back Miloš Kerkez arrives from Bournemouth. The Cherries are paying the price for their strong performances, having already lost half of their stable defense following Dean Huijsen’s departure. Meanwhile, Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher heads to Brentford to replace Mark Flekken, who joins Leverkusen. The Reds are also battling to sign Frankfurt’s French striker Hugo Ekitike. It looks like Liverpool are gearing up for a Champions League push.

Baník, Slavia, and Plzeň Dominate the Domestic Scene

Last season’s TOP 3 are proving their transfer market dominance—and they’re not holding back.

Slavia has already sealed deals for Michal Sadílek from Twente and Youssouphy Sanyang from Östers, spending a combined €6.6 million. They’re also closing in on record-breaking moves for Pape Diallo from Metz and Aboubacar Sedi Kinteh from Tromsø. Slavia are riding a wave of momentum as they prepare for the lucrative Champions League.

Plzeň, too, is making big moves. After confirming the arrivals of Karel Spáčil and Adrian Zeljković, they’ve added Denis Višinský on a free from Liberec and versatile attacker Tomáš Ladra from Mladá Boleslav. Plzeň aren’t messing around—they’re aiming not just to defend their second-place finish but to challenge for the title.

But if anyone’s serious about a title push, it’s Baník Ostrava—where our goalkeeper Dominik Holec stands between the posts. They’ve secured Christian Frýdek from Liberec and young Daniel Žiška from Trenčín. Negotiations are also underway for midfielder Dominik Janošek, while Vojtěch Vorel could arrive as Holec’s backup. All in all, Baník has been linked with as many as TWELVE players!

As for squad stability, Sigma Olomouc—where we have talented goalkeepers Honza Koutný and Tadeáš Stoppen—are preparing for the departures of Jakub Pokorný, Filip Zorvan, and Jan Kliment. However, the rest of the core squad has renewed contracts, and they can also count on the return of Antonín Růsek from injury.
