World Championship 2018

Mistrovství světa 2018

And even though our gloves probably won't appear at the World Cup 2018 in Russia, we definitely have to at least mention such a grand celebration.

What did the first weekend of the World Cup bring, especially for goalkeepers?

This year's World Cup kicked off, as tradition dictates, with the home team, Russia, who played a fantastic match against the almost toothless Saudis. Despite the fact that Russia and Saudi Arabia are the weakest teams in the tournament, at least according to the coefficient, the match ended with a hockey score of 5:0. Who would have expected that this wouldn't be the only surprising result of the championship?

During the first few days, we witnessed some beautiful goals. Coutinho, Kolarov, Ronaldo – this trio of scorers is especially worth mentioning, with two of them scoring spectacularly from free kicks. However, we also saw many amazing saves. Great matches were played by Iceland's Hannes Halldorsson and Egypt's Mohamed El Shenawy, while the Germans were kept at bay by Mexican Ochoa. On the other hand, the preliminary candidate for the Golden Glove, David de Gea, made mistakes, and the Champions League winner Keylor Navas didn't look very convincing either, as his Costa Rica lost to Serbia 0:1 right after Kolarov's free kick. However, we can't properly evaluate all these goalkeepers just yet; it will be easier to assess them after the group stage is completed and the knockout phase begins. That's where it will become clear who arrived at the tournament in great form, who just had luck in the opening matches, and who will completely miss their rhythm by the end of the football year.

And we wish you to thoroughly enjoy this amazing football celebration; we believe that the best team will win, and hopefully, thanks to you, our gloves will one day get to experience such an incredible championship as this year's in Russia. Even if it's just from the stands. :)
