The road to triumph: An interview with the winning goalkeeper of the university championship of the Czech Republic and his journey to the European Championship

For one of our customers, this moment became a reality. With success in the final of the university championship, which you could watch live on ČT sport, he earned the opportunity to represent his country at the upcoming European Championship. Read the interview with Michal Svoboda, whose passion for football is contagious.
Hi, the winner of the university league and champion of the Czech Republic, it sounds great to write and surely to hear as well. What does it feel like?
Hi, it's fantastic! I never expected this even in my dreams as a rookie in the league at the start of the competition, but as time went on after the group stage, I started to believe it, we had a great team for it.
Was there a moment that was really tough, but in the end, you said to yourself: 'Yeah, I did it!'?
After the quarter-final match in Brno against last year's champions, when we secured our place in the Final4, I knew we would win the competition.
What was the hardest part for you personally?
For me, it was definitely the final; throughout the competition, I felt comfortable and calm, but during the home final, the first year of the university in the league, with so many people and friends in the stands, I didn't want to make a mistake.
Do you have any rituals or special preparations before a match?
I put on my left glove first, but that's more of a habit and automatic action than a ritual. Otherwise, it's always the same; maybe I can't miss Alpa for the match!
How long have you been wearing our gloves? Have you tried more models? If so, what is your favorite?
I've been wearing BU1 gloves since 2018; in the meantime, I've tried other brands, but BU1 has always convinced me the most about its quality; it has no competition on the market. The favorite model is the Signal series.

Do you have someone who inspires you or has influenced your role as a goalkeeper?
The person who has influenced me the most and continues to do so is my dad, who has been a goalkeeper his whole life. By the way, he liked the model Classic. :)
How excited are you about the upcoming European Championship? When is it actually taking place?
I can't wait, it's happening in Hungary on the 12th. 7. - 24. 7. 2024. I'm curious to see how it will compare with other universities in Europe.
